Hello everyone,,,
I am still on windows 7, i did refuse the free windows 10 upgrade. I'm gonna build a new PC soon (already have most parts, waiting for a good deal on an older GPU)

My BF does have Windows 10 and i really don't like it....Windows 7 is not gonna be supported after 2020. Are we stuck with Windows 10 forever?

We're stuck with it until MS decides to create a new OS. When will that be.....who knows.

As for your new build goes; I would move to windows 10 as windows 7 will have no more security updates. At least with 10 you'll be protected in that respect. If you're more concerned about the look and feel of windows 7......there is software out there that can make 10 look like 7.

Also, make sure you back up any files you want to keep (pics, docs etc) for that just in case scenario!. :) As @bassfisher6522 points out, there are no more security patches for Win 7 and the hackers are most likely going too have a field day!.

Windows 7 ended support in January. I would not be using now if it were my decision. Microsoft's plan is that Windows 10 would be the final "version" of Windows, with bi yearly upgrades. But no, you are certainly not stuck with Windows 10. If you don't rely Windows only software (like adobe products, and Microsoft Office) for work, then Linux offers a great alternative.

Possibly there is misunderstanding regarding the termination of support. It does not mean that Windows 7 is suddenly going to stop working. MS will no longer offer help in there sites, nor will there be any updates when faults are found. - That's it.

I already upgraded my windows long ago. I don't see a more updated version after Windows 10. Not sure a new version of Windows would be available or not.

The main thing with a non-supported OS is to check your antivirus, several brands announced a few months ago they'll keep theirs working for 2 years after that announced date.

There may or may not be critical security updates for Windows itself, depends upon how bad they would be.

friend your fighting a loosing battle. The longer you wait to more up dates there will be. Each up date can have its own issues things that need fixing after the up date. I know I have had Win10 since its beginning. Once you make the leap into Win10 and go threw its tutor's the more you will like it . I have been using windows since Win3.1 it has come a long way I like it for what it can do.
