SOLVED In search of the contents of the recycle bin on Windows 10

There is no icon showing for the recycle bin but when I go into storage, I can see a recycle bin stating full and one stating empty. Clearly I want to open and remove everything (except my last discard), but that is not happening. This is how the recycle bin displays: $recycle.bin.cdf-ms

Click the Start and then select "personalisation"
Over on the left, select Themes, scroll down the right hand window and select "Desktop Icons"
There you can select which icons you would like to see on the desktop.

Now, if you right click the Recycyle bin, and "Open", you can select specific items to delete.

Thank you very much for your help. I now have the recycle bin back on my destop
