need help; I need to know how to stop windows 10 update after son clicked on pop up and now says to restart pc to start the update for it. I downloaded windows 10 last summer, it killed my hard drive, had to get new one. Went back to windows 7. happy till son did this. It is turned off right now. Can't keep turning it off the hard way, or avoid restarts forever. Anyone know how to avoid the download? This free download has cost me more money than it is worth. It also killed my laptops hard drive, and I had to get a new one.

The Windows Update responsible for the white logo in your Notification area is KB3035583 and you can check if your PC has installed this by heading to Control Panel and then Windows Update. Then click on 'View Update History'. From here you'll see a new window pop-up and you'll be able to see a link to 'Installed Updates'. Click on this and it will open another tab with all your previously installed updates. Give the window a few minutes to load and at the top right-hand corner search for KB3035583.
Right click on the update and select 'Uninstall' and follow the on-screen prompts until you are asked to 'Restart Now'. Restart the PC once more and the icon should have vanished.

Thanks for the reply. I had microsoft support helping later last night and they seem to have fixed it hopefully. I have your response saved in case they didn't.
