How to delete a file or folder which cannot be found

Hi,
I cannot find this elsewhere, so here goes:

In my File Explorer, W10, I suddenly got a mirror 'Documents' folder. Irritating clutter. Dangerously, anything deleted from one, was deleted from the other. So I have backed up my files externally, and now the two 'Documents' folders decline to delete, as they 'cannot be found'.

Any suggestions? The Internet purports to show 'you tube' instructions, then wander around flicking all over the place - to me, incomprehensibly.

I wish W10 would allow be to build my own File Explorer.
