HELP Printer wont print: HP Officejet 5400 Wireles

I have the USB cable plugged in to my brand new Aspire Acer computer and the printer will not print. its not showing up as one of the devices installed, it wont give me the option for look for drivers. I'm stuck and i need to PRINT.. please help

On your previous machine you used the printer in WiFi mode?
Is the new PC connected to your router via WiFi or Ethernet?

Have you loaded the HP software onto the new machine? You should have a CD that came with the printer.
(It would be worth going to the HP site and seeing if there is newer software for the 5400 and downloading it. If the software is dated sometime in 2016 it is probably W10 compliant.)

The HP software will give you an option to search for the printer wirelessly and will find it and connect it so there should be no need for the USB cord. ( Some older HP printers of my acquaintance needed to be initially installed via USB before they could be found over Wifi)
