Help! "One or more audio service isn't running"

Hello

Having just uninstalled all manner of applications my computer ceased up. So I managed to run a System Restore which took a VERY long time but seems to have worked.

However now when I run the Troubleshooter I get:
"One or more audio service isn't running Not fixed"

Also the Speaker icon bottom right has a red circle with an "X" on it.

What should I do?

[Trouble]

I went through something similar recently on my wife's computer which I chalked up to a recent update.
For some reason (and I suspect third party products) neither the Windows Audio Service nor WLAN Service was starting so she had no sound and no internet.
I simply went into the services module (services.msc) and manually started both and made sure they were both set to Automatic.

No idea if this will work for you but I thought I would pass it along since it sounded so familiar.
