Hello. Since my SSD that contains the OS has no more space, I decided to migrate the OS (windows 10 ) to a larger SSD. As I understand I can use a cloning software to copy the OS with its contents and settings to an identical SSD which has more space available. I haven't done this process before and I wonder if everything works in the new SSD as it did in the old one, since I have changed many settings in the current OS. So just to be in the safe side I would prefer to keep the old OS to be able to selectively boot to either OS just in case not all settings work as before. I dont intent to keep running my pc on two O. systems just to be able to access my old configuration in case not everything goes as intended. My question is if that will be possible or are there certain limitations . Thanks in advance for your answers

Desktop or Laptop??
Cloning your drive is the best solution. However, the clone will have the same size as the original so you have to extend the space afterwards.
I have a 2TB drive in my laptop which I clone every week. If something happens to my primary drive, I just swap them out and I am up and running again.
Another way might be this: you mentioned indirectly that you might be able to choose which drive to boot from. I interpret this as having a second port for another drive. Why don't you just use the second drive as your data drive and copy your files especially documents, pictures etc to this drive and deleted afterwards from your main drive. that should give you plenty of space more on your main drive.

I might be wrong with my assumption though. . .
