I am an old informatician, using windows 10 only desktop with ClassicShell.
I have made IE 11 the default browser in Default Settings. But EVERY TIME I click a link in email or documents, I get a dialog asking me “How Do You Want To Open This?” Then it says “Keep Using This App”, and it shows by default "Internet Explorer". It also lists further down Edge and Look For An App in The App Store. I ALWAYS check the box for “Keep Using This App”, but I still get that dialog EVERY time I click on a link.
For the moment no answer on the web.

Try going into "Settings "- System
Select "Default Apps" - Web Browser"
If it does nor say IE click and select IE

It should be OK, with what you have already , but see if the above works.

Sorry, but the default app is truly IE, this is why IE is indicated by default in the question. Attached the asking window. It is in Hungarian, but you can understand...

I found the answer (from MS), it's functionning!

Copy everything below between the lines (but exluding those lines) to a text file with a .reg extension:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\htmlfile\shell\opennew\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files\\Internet Explorer\\IEXPLORE.EXE\" %1"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once the file is saved - click on it - allow it to make the requisite change and problem will be solved (leastwise it was on the W10 systems I checked after the registry edit was applied)

A KB article is being prepared for publication outlining the above.
