Unable to set up Gmail account, why?

Do you get any errors when adding the account? The more info you can provide, the bettter.

If Alan's link doesn't solve the problem, you could try adding it manually as an IMAP account using these server settings:

Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server
imap.gmail.com

Requires SSL: Yes

Port: 993

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server
smtp.gmail.com

Requires SSL: Yes

Requires TLS: Yes (if available)

Requires Authentication: Yes

Port for SSL: 465

Port for TLS/STARTTLS: 587

Full Name or Display Name Your name
Account Name, User name, or Email address Your full email address
Password Your Gmail password

 

[Trouble]

First .... double check your Gmail settings, by logging into your account using your browser and confirm that forwarding is configured properly to support IMAP and or POP

Then when configuring Outlook, the following POP / SMTP settings seem to work well for me
