my win10 computer (desktop custom build) has forgotten how to fall asleep on its own, although I can put it to sleep manually, and it will stay asleep.
the monitor also no longer dims after 10 minutes like it is supposed to.
But if I reboot and don't log in to my user account, the automatic sleep function works.
I have the power settings properly defined to sleep after 30 minutes.
I turned off wake up from usb and from lan.
I don't have a joystick plugged in to usb, only a HP printer and wireless mouse (logitech) and wireless keyboard (microsoft).
I ran sfc/scannow and it found irreparable files, and I ran it again in safe mode, and again, irreparable.
I ran dism and it couldn't access the source files. (Afterwards, I checked windows update, and it says that the computer is up to date, and the last check was at the time I ran dism!)
As I said before, it sleeps just fine until I log in to my user account, and I don't have other problems, so I don't really believe my windows installation is messed up.
I would guess there is some process that starts up when I log in, and it is preventing. sleep.
Any ideas?
