I'm hardly a computer whiz but I can't seem to figure out how to create a shortcut to my desktop. It was simply right clicking on a blank area of a page, select -create shortcut- and -yes- and the icon would be on the desktop for easy access to that page or site. I'd appreciate any advice on this.

Yes, there is correct in most cases.
In other situations, one needs to use the Send To right click context option.

So, what is your problem ?

Give us an example.
What do you want to create a desktop shortcut ?

I have Windows 10. Example... I'd like to create an icon for this page on my desktop so I can leave and return by simply clicking on the icon and I would have the page back. In Windows 8.1 I would simply right click on a blank portion of the page and I would be given an option to create a shortcut. By saying yes it would automatically put an icon on my screen. Now when I right click I no longer have that option.

I guess there is a problem. I really, really appreciate you getting back to me. I've been trying to figure this out for a couple of days. I guess the next issue is how to fix it.

I copy the url from the address bar in the browser,
right click on a blank space on the desktop,
select 'new', 'shortcut', enter the url in the 'Type the location of the item',
click 'Next', 'Name the shortcut', click 'finish'

url shortcut.jpg name the shortcut.jpg

or click on the 'Star' in the address bar & save to 'Bookmark Bar' or 'Favourites'

Thanks for all your help, folks. Much appreciated. I think I'll do another download of Windows 10.
