Have had ongoing problems with Chrome on win 10 1803. Tried many online fixes but none have worked. Understand from what I read it is registry problem but no fixes have worked. Tried windows updates but they all failed. I am now totally at a loss. Attach a file of what I get opening chrome and the installation log trying to update - which is Greek to me. Appreciate any help. Advised log file is too large for this post also posting .odt files not allowed. Any workaround for getting odt files converted to acceptable format?
Thanks

Change the handle from odt to txt, for a tempoary workaround. Easyvenough then for a member to download and change it back.

Thanks but this forum will not accept the txt file as it is too big.

The grey head logo you are seeing in Chrome means you are using Chrome with a multiple-user profile.

When you open Chrome:
  • Click the more icon on top right of browser
  • Select settings
  • Select People from the left pane
  • Select the unwanted person then select remove

Re the issue with update Windows 10:

Can you provide more information of the Error code, and corrupted files. i.e. Is it telling you a specific file or files are corrupted?

With Chrome....are you signed into Chrome? If so, sign out and reboot system and launch chrome and cheek for issue.

With respect to your Windows corruption: since you seem to be having some problems that are out of your skill level....I strongly suggest you download the MS MCT tool and do a clean install.

Have a txt file but forum says too big to post
My apologies for lack of follow up but other domestic issues came up. Good news is that the upgrade to 1903 finally worked. I just kept trying the download and after about 8 times it suddenly went through. Have no idea why.

Win 10 upgrade now solved (reason unknown). Thought it might solve the chrome issue but not so. I have deleted and reinstalled Chrome but always is version 51.0. I am only person listed on "people" - see attached. I have no ability to control Chrome. It starts up on its own when the computer starts (see attach). I deleted Chrome from windows apps and it does not show in the app listing( see attach). I cannot have Chrome as a shortcut on the desktop. There is no ability to upgrade via the 'More' tools. Any feedback appreciated. ( Edge runs normally).

Where are you downloading Google Chrome from? You should be offered the latest build if you download it from Google.

Your Chrome setting 4 jpg, is where you can get the latest download — Click the About on left side and it ought to show you your current build and allow you to update there.

I download Chrome from the Google Chrome site. The about gives the build number - which is way out of date - but no option to update. I am now embarrassed to state the issue is solved. In following help threads on Chrome I appear to have logged out and then downloaded and logged in again. If I had followed bassfisher6522 advice from an earlier post I would have saved all some trouble. So Windows update is successful and Chrome is now good. Thanks for bearing with me.

From your attachments, you're running Chromium and not Chrome. I can tell by the color of the browser icon....

Uninstall Chromium and install chrome from here; https://www.google.com/chrome/
