Instead of me simply saying CNET is a bad place to download from, I will let uBlock Origin say it for me.
There are both free/ cost. Obviously expensive tools are more effectively work. There are lots of tools, it is not possible to say any one can work 100% satisfaction.

A simple Google search provides links to a lot of others as well.
uBlock Origin has prevented the following page from loading:

http://download.cnet.com/OST-to-PST-Converter-Toolbox/3000-2369_4-76037846.html

Because of the following filter

||download.cnet.com^$document

Found in: uBlock filters – Badware risks

The sites below are included in the "uBlock filters – Badware risks" -- or are candidates for inclusion. The sites are documented to contain badware and other programs that have unwanted hidden functionality. Not all downloads on a site may be affected. The block page is there to remind users to be cautious, particularly non-technical users.

Users of uBlock are free to disable blocking by selecting either:

  • Temporarily - The site will be temporarily allowed for a limited time (currently set at 60 seconds).
  • Permanently - The site will be permanently allowed.
Blocking may be re-enabled from the popup menu.

Below are sites currently part of the list, or sites being candidate for the list (will be added once there are enough sources to support the badware risks qualifier), and links giving further information as to why. Feel free to add good sources if you find more (please respect the chronological order, keep everything neat).
