Trying to run chkdsk and it responds "Access denied as you do not have sufficient privileges or the disk may be locked by another process. You have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode and make sure the disk is unlocked".
I'm the administrator and only user. My laptop suddenly slowed and I've run virus scan with no problems. Also ran disk cleanup and optimized.

And have you tried running it in elevated mode? _- You need to use the command prompt (admin)

If you are still with me, Michael. Chkdsk, like many commands, is redundant on Windows 10/11

The disk is being checked for misuse or errors by Windows itself. The OS way is to, for example, open windows explorer - click the disk and properties - tools and "check"
