chkdsk f/ r/ x/ command isn't progressing

I ran command line chkdsk c:

There was quite a list of errors and screen said to run chkdsk /scan next so I did. When I came back to my machine everything had closed out. So I ran chkdsk c: again. This time it showed only 4 errors.

I then ran chkdsk f/ r/ x/ and it ran when I restarted. that's been two hours ago and it still shows 11%, so apparently it is not progressing. Does anyone know what's wrong or what I should do, please?

It finally finished and was at the sign-in screen when I came back to it! I ran chkdsk c: again and this time it showed no errors.
