Cannot update my Iphone Xs on windows 10 using Itunes

I posted this on Apple's support community forum's page had viewers but no help yet.
i thought i would try here and see if someone had a similar experience. if you could help me i would appreciate it!

Is there any error message?
Is the iPhone connected to the PC via Bluetooth?
Are you using an official Apple certified cable?
Does iTunes ‘see’ the iPhones?
Have you tried a different USB port?

My iphone XR updated via usb and itunes successfully Wednesday. Yesterday I got what appeared to be a legitimate update in Windows update for Apple Inc USG 486.0.0.0. I researched this before installing it and it is real, an Apple thing for recent iPhones to update properly via USB 3. It has various version going back for some years.

I have never seen it before so I wonder if this version is just the newest one?
