Ok, so threshold 2 build update whatever the poo you want to call it failed to apply to my computer numerous times. In hind sight, I wish I had let it be, but I persisted in getting it applied with success.
Now since then I cannot access any google server as if they are being blocked by the browsers. Not even by direct IP address.
Details:
Lenovo X220T I5 vPro 1TB Samsung Evo SSD, 16GB Crucial VS. Windows 7 Pro 64bit upgraded to Windows 10 a few months ago.
No issues with the initial upgrade to 10.
Current winver result: Windows 10 Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.29) No other updates available.
This is a development laptop, so it's fairly software heavy with IDE's and DB back ends; and everything was and still is working fine with the exception of this google problem.
Type google.com in address bar of IE11 or Edge = same result: Nothing. It just spins for few seconds and then reverts to whatever the last url was. No error, no 404, no nothing.
So, I installed Chrome. Google works fine in Chrome. Go figure.
This is really irritating me.
hosts file is empty except for the default comments.
lan settings on both adapters are auto, no proxy.
Yes, I've disabled firewalls and anti-virus, the result is the same.
Yes, I reset all IE setting to default. No change.
I removed IE as a windows feature and re-added it - no change.
Safe mode with networking - same result.
Lot's of reboots in between all of it.
One thing of note is that I can access google through kproxy.com so it has to be something with this computer's os/ie config that got jacked up. Same results on multiple networks - just this laptop.
tracert to google completes and resolves ip. type that Ip in the address bar - same result - no google. I've tried other google ip's also. Nothing works.
Who's got something new to try?
Otherwise, I've only got 2 other options, backup and roll back the OS to the previous build - sounds sketchy. Or maybe remove IE as a feature again and attempt to do a manual clean of the program files locations for it prior to re-adding it - even more sketchy...
