I have tried various suggestions in the driver forum but could not find a similar one.

Hi Mansur,

Welcome to the Forum.

Both of those files ought to be in different locations.
  • C:\Windows\System32\HdAudio.sys
  • C:\Windows\System32\DriveStore\FileRepository\HdAudio.sys

They are the same file and size.

The reason you cannot uninstall the file is because its a System file owned by NT Authority\TrustedInstaller

You won't have privileges to uninstall that until you take ownership of the file first.

Why are you trying to uninstall it though?

You'd be better off opening an elevated command prompt (Command Prompt (Admin), and running System File Checker command: SFC /SCANNOW and allow Windows a chance to find error and repair.
  • Right-click on Start
  • Left-click on Command Prompt (Admin)
  • When the User Account Control appears click Yes
  • In the Administrator: Command Prompt window type SFC /SCANNOW then press Enter key

This scan can take several minutes (DO NOT turn of computer while scanning!)

Regards,
