Bold type face (like this)

I need help reading stuff on my win 10 Asus laptop. The "default" or "house" text (yes, I'm an old guy) should be bold like this is. I don't need it larger, just bolder, it's what I would call grayed out. I've tried a number of things with no luck. Any help appreciated

This might be enough.
In the search box, type "cleartype", and turn it on (Mark the little square)
Click "next", and then "next" again.
Work through all the following windows, selecting the darker samples, and see if it is sufficient for your needs.
Alternatively, (you may have tried this?)
Right click the desktop and choose personalise
Click "Fonts" and choose one to your liking.

Have you tried opening your graphics control panel to see if you can do something there? There should be a gamma control which will darken the text
