Hello,
After updating to 1709 my PC no longer recognizes my sound card. It's as if it's not even plugged in. I've tried changing slots and reboots to no avail. Going back to the previous version restores sound, however Destiny 2 continues to crash. After upgrading to 1709 I was able to play Destiny 2 tonight for 3 hours with no crashes at all. Under the previous windows version it crashes every 30 minutes or so. Makes my PC do a hard reboot.

Any ideas please? I'm resorting to onboard sound atm.

Thank you.

Install the Asus drivers for it again. MS position is the vendors have to keep up with MS not the other way around

That's the problem. I can't install the drivers. It fails every time stating my sound card is not recognized by windows. I roll back and it works fine. Microsoft broke something.

Tried it. Still not working. Also disabled driver signature enforcement. Still nothing. This is the error I get.

Well that is a contradiction in itself as it knows the name of the device, have you looked around the support pages at MicroScrap?. :)

Drop them a line:

I sent an e-mail to Asus. Yes i'm running an Asus Z170-A, Hopefully they can get this figured out. I don't know if it's something Asus needs to fix or Microsoft.

You might try the sound card manufacture website for a compatible driver. Sometimes it takes Asus awhile to catch up. MS don't care someone in the support forum may have found a work around.

I've tried 3 different driver versions from Asus. Same issue. Sound Card Not Detected by windows. I can't install drivers if Windoiws doesn't even think the driver exists. Hopefully either Asus or Windows can get this fixed. I don't know if it's a Motherboard issue, Windows Issue or Sound Card Issue. I'm leaning more so towards a Windows bug with the recent update. Hopefully they patch it soon. Otherwise i'll be selling this sound card and sticking with on board audio. Waste of $100.00.

I would look for the sound card manufacture to come up with a working driver, otherwise they will lose a lot of sales, and be having a lot of returned sound cards.
