Not really sure where to post this so I'll just post it here!

Hey people! For the past few days I've been getting a cmd.exe popup at random times in the day and it goes away so fast.

I have an MSi GE72 2QD Apache Pro gaming laptop.

FINDSTR: Cannot open C:\ProgramData\acer\updater2\updater2.xml
The system cannot find the path specified.
Cannot access file C:\Program Files\DriverSetupUtility\FUB\+
FINDSTR: Cannot open C:\ProgramData\packard bell\updater2\updater2.xml
The system cannot find the path specified.

Cannot access file C:\Program Files\DriverSetupUtility\FUB\+
FINDSTR: Cannot open C:\ProgramData\gateway\updater2\updater2.xml
The system cannot find the path specified.
Cannot access file C:\Program Files\DriverSetupUtility\FUB\+
FINDSTR: Cannot open C:\ProgramData\founder\updater2\updater2.xml
The system cannot find the path specified.
Cannot access file C:\Program Files\DriverSetupUtility\FUB\+
The system cannot find the path specified.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anyway of fixing it except for having to do a reset/factory reset?

Thanks

Have you downloaded and installed some third party driver finder software or something.
The messages seem to indicate three separate OEMs
Acer, Packard Bell and Gateway and the a third product called "founder" which I'm not familiar with.
You may want to check the startup tab in Task Manager to see if something there looks like the culprit.

My memory is really bad so I don't remember what I've done that could have caused it. I've posted a screenshot of all the startup items.

Try a clean boot and see if that has any impact on the issue.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135
Use the steps for 8 / 8.1 (same for 10)
Basically you're disabling all start up items and non-Microsoft services. Do not mess with Microsoft Services, be sure to check the box to hide them.

I tried your suggestion doing a clean boot. Still the same problem. If it all fails then I might just do a factory reset if anything. I did also update my BIOS but no luck

What are you doing to get the Find String messages?

You seem to have CCleaner installed. Have you run it lately and are there any logs?

Anything in Event Viewer?

I get the command windows every now and then. Some programmer explained as some software is trying to determine something about the system. But you know what software you are running. I would check the path to see what software is in those folders.

It does seem a little strange both acer and HP are looking for the same file, updater2.xml..

I had this problem aswell and i managed to fix it by uninstalling "Driver Setup Utility" published by Acer. If you or anyone else in the future has this problem i suggest you give it a try.
