hello. i have been having a few rather small issues with this version of Windows. maybe someone can help?

first, well this one is more like a 2-in-1, anyhow... the first time launching Microsoft Edge does nothing. the program is unresponsive and doesn't load properly. i must close Edge, and re-launch. same exact thing for the Start Menu. when clicking Start, the menu is completely greyed out. i can't scroll or click anything. it will work fine after the 2nd time, though. and neither Edge or Start Menu seems to have an effect on each other. so, while the issue is very similar, one doesn't resolve itself at the same time as the other.

scrolling using the mouse wheel is very funky at times. there is nothing wrong with any of the mouses i own. sometimes when trying to scroll on a website there is a lag to it. like, the webpage is fully loaded and nothing going on. it is possible to scroll without any lag using the sidebar.

on the note of the scroll wheel... how to disable the back/forward function on it? the only thing i can find is something for AutoHotkey, but that seems more like a work-a-round. if it can't be disabled from Windows... EXACTLY how do i control this feature so it would quit accidently happening?

What kind of computer, Desktop or Notebook? A common misconception is that all computers are alike and function exactly the same, makes details more important.

As to the mouse and scroll wheel, the back and forth, or up and down, of a page is the function of that wheel. I'd think to not have the feature would require going back to the 2-button mouse of the '80s-90s. Even back then a mouse could be had with a third button in the middle that was convenient for use in AutoCAD/graphical designing. And one of the features of the wheel in conjunction with the Ctrl key to increase or decrease the view of a page can be duplicated by Ctrl and the + or - key. Pressing down on the wheel gives a different way to scroll.

hmmm... can't say i really understand what you are saying, but currently use a desktop. i have been messing with computers for like 20+ years. can't say there is much a difference in the operational use of a laptop or desktop. of course, there is an architectural difference. but Windows is Windows and a mouse is a mouse.

anyhow, it doesn't matter if i use a 6button or 3button mouse. ( i don't own any 2button mouses, not sure why anyone would. but to ones dismay it is actually possible to buy a brand new one on Amazon! LOL ) between 3 different mouses the issues are all the same. and the issues only started to occur after getting Windows 10. this sort of thing never happened on Windows 8.1. and i have already tried to re-format and re-install Windows 10.

as far as the mouse wheel causing the web browser to go back/forward... it seems to be random. if it can't be disabled, i would like to at least figure out exactly how to do it. so i can avoid having it occur accidently. nothing like being in the middle of a transaction and accidently trying to go back to the previous page. talk about an oh-sh** moment.

the other two issues are only a minor inconvenience, but all 3 issues are still exclusive to Windows 10. (at least for it they have been. never had this sort of issue on any version of Windows.) it has nothing to do with the mouse in-use.

EDIT : also i k now how to zoom with the CTRL key. and know about the universal scroll when pressing the middle button. but those aren't what i am having an issue with. both Zoom +/- and Universal Scroll work just fine.

i guess you can only edit a post one time... it says something about spam.

ANYHOW, like right now i seem to be able to re-produce the back/forward thing. like even while just one the webpage. if i hit the refresh button up there in the top left for while using Microsoft Edge... i can scroll down just fine, because there isn't any page forward of this. but attempting to scroll up causes the previous page visited to be loaded.

this doesn't even occur when using F5 to refresh. just when hitting the browsers refresh button. i would to totally disable this feature, i don't want to use the scroll wheel to load pages like that.

it has to either be related to Windows 10, or Microsoft Edge. and on a side-note... i have tried the AutoHotkey solution. using that script completely breaks mouse wheel functionality. this > https://superuser.com/questions/145...d-history-scroll-through-shift-mouse-wheel-in

OKAY! well it seems anytime i click anything in the bookmarks bar or higher, the scroll wheel issue with the backwards/forwards thing occurs.

however, that still doesn't explain why just scrolling up/down on pages should be laggy. again, same issue with multiple mouses. and scrolling with the sidebar produces no noticeable lag.
