2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based systems repeatedly fails to install. Error code 0x80073712. What's the fix?

I did the free Upgrade to Win10 Version 1709 from Win7 on Thursday and it got updated to Build 16299.125 but couldn't find Build 16299.192 so I used the Learn More link on the Update and Security page, waded down the Catalog link and downloaded the file. It is now running on the computer, will see if it works after I get back from a run to town.

Edit: 45 minutes later and everything is fine.

I have 7 machines & it wouldn't install on any of them through Windows Update.
Download & install manually.

Just in case, the error definition is below. You might try running some of the DISM commands in an administrative command prompt and at least this one.

DISM /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

If that doesn't help do a search for something repairing the component store or Windows 10 update troubleshooter.
