How to tell if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 10

Sometimes it is important to know if you have a 32-bit (sometimes called x86) or 64-bit (sometimes called x64) version of Windows 10. Drivers will often be designed for specific versions of Windows and some software is only designed to run on 64-bit systems. 32-bit software should run on both versions.

It's easy to find out which version you are running - just take a look in the System Properties panel. To open this, press Windows Key + Break (a handy keyboard shortcut), or right click the start button and select System:

Once the System Properties panel has loaded, take a look for the System Type line. This should show the bit version of the operating system:
