Windows PowerShell is designed as a direct replacement for the old "black and white" command prompt that you may already be familiar with. This may come as an unpleasant surprise to long-time users, but once you get used to PowerShell it is a pleasure to use and has some much more powerful scripting features.
The easiest way to open Windows PowerShell is to right click the start button and then click the Windows PowerShell option. If you require elevated administrator privileges, there is a 2nd option to launch this.
Once you've click this, the blue and white PowerShell prompt will load:
