If you run in to serious problems with Windows 10, you may need to access the advanced startup options to begin troubleshooting your issue. Many of our other articles will refer to this page as an initial step, to avoid duplication.

Congratulations - now that you've chosen one of the steps above, you should be presented with the Advanced Startup Options menu!

- Choose a boot OS
- Modify UEFI Settings
- Restore from a System Image or Restore Point
- Attempt Startup Repair
- Change Startup Settings
- Access the Command Prompt for more advanced troubleshooting
Choose one of the appropriate steps below to begin the process:
If you can boot to the desktop, the easiest method is to click Start > Power and then hold down the Shift key whilst clicking restart:
If you can boot to the desktop and have no keyboard, click the Start Button followed by Settings:
Then click Update & Security:
Now click Recovery from the menu, followed by Restart Now under the Advanced Start-up Section:
If you can't boot Windows 10, you should boot from a installation USB/DVD drive (if you don't already have one, you can make one on another PC by following this guide). You may need to choose to boot from your chosen media in the BIOS or boot options prompt. Once this has happened, you'll be presented with a Windows 10 setup menu - choose your localisation options and then click Next:
Now, click Repair your Computer to load the advanced startup options (do not click Install Now!):
