Lexmark X5250

I am really sorry I installed Windows 10. First I lost Microsoft Word (can't find the disk to reinstall) and now I cannot print using my LExmark X5250. I get messages like "could not start printer" and "check printer configuration". Everything I try seems to lead to "purchase this....". I am not a good technical computer person but I do know that everything is connected. Any simple suggestions or do I need to trash my printer?

You DO need to go to Lexmark's support website and see if there is an updated driver for your printer. How old is the printer?

Very old but works fine. I am NOT part of the disposable generation. I keep things forever!
